About this exercise

A core exercise that combines the Russian twist rotation with a rowing pull while holding a dumbbell in a V-sit (boat) position. The movement challenges the obliques and abs through rotation while also engaging the upper back with the rowing component.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor and lean back slightly into a V-sit position, with knees slightly bent and heels off the ground
  • Hold a dumbbell with both hands in front of your chest
  • Rotate your torso to one side, bringing the dumbbell toward the floor beside your hip
  • Return to center, then pull the dumbbell toward your chest in a rowing motion, squeezing your shoulder blades
  • Rotate to the opposite side and bring the dumbbell down toward that hip
  • Return to center again to complete one full cycle
