About this exercise

The dumbbell reverse spider curl is performed lying prone on an incline bench with an overhand (pronated) grip. The incline position eliminates momentum and keeps the arms perpendicular to the floor, placing intense isolation on the brachialis and brachioradialis throughout the entire range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to roughly 45–60 degrees and lie face down with your chest against the pad
  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand with an overhand (pronated) grip, arms hanging straight down
  • Keep your upper arms stationary and perpendicular to the floor throughout the movement
  • Curl both dumbbells upward toward your shoulders, leading with the back of the hands
  • Squeeze the brachialis and brachioradialis at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the dumbbells back to the starting position with arms fully extended
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
