About this exercise

A dumbbell pullover performed while the upper back rests on an exercise ball in a bridge position. The ball allows a deeper overhead stretch compared to a flat bench and recruits additional stabilizer muscles to maintain balance, effectively targeting the chest and lats simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Sit on an exercise ball and walk your feet forward until your upper back and shoulders rest across the ball with your hips raised
  • Hold a single dumbbell with both hands, interlacing fingers around the inner plate, with arms slightly bent
  • Position the dumbbell directly above your chest as the starting point
  • Slowly arc the dumbbell back over your head toward the floor until you feel a full stretch through the chest and lats
  • Pull the dumbbell back along the same arc to the starting position above your chest
  • Keep your hips elevated and core tight throughout to avoid hyperextending your lower back
