About this exercise

The dumbbell palms-in incline bench press targets the upper chest using a neutral grip on an incline bench. The palms-facing-in position reduces shoulder strain and shifts additional emphasis to the inner chest and triceps compared to a standard incline press.

How to Perform

  • Set a bench to a 30–45 degree incline angle and sit back with a dumbbell in each hand
  • Hold the dumbbells with a neutral grip (palms facing each other) at shoulder level
  • Plant your feet flat on the floor and keep your back firmly against the bench
  • Press both dumbbells upward simultaneously until your arms are fully extended
  • Pause briefly at the top, then lower the dumbbells back to shoulder level in a controlled manner
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
