About this exercise

An isolation exercise for the forearm pronators performed lying on the floor. Holding a dumbbell with the elbow bent, you rotate the forearm from a supinated (palm up) to a fully pronated (palm down) position to strengthen the pronator teres and pronator quadratus.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back on the floor and bend one elbow to 90 degrees
  • Hold a light dumbbell in the working hand with palm facing up (supinated)
  • Keep your upper arm and elbow pressed against the floor throughout the movement
  • Slowly rotate your forearm inward until your palm faces completely downward (pronated)
  • Hold briefly at the end range and feel the contraction in your forearm
  • Return slowly to the starting supinated position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching arms
