About this exercise

A lying triceps extension performed with dumbbells where the weights travel in an arc across the face rather than straight overhead, emphasizing the long head of the triceps. Performed on a flat bench, it provides a deep stretch at the bottom and full contraction at the top.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on a bench holding a dumbbell in each hand, arms extended directly above your chest with palms facing each other
  • Keeping your upper arms stationary, hinge at the elbows and lower the dumbbells in an arc across your face toward the opposite shoulder
  • Stop when your forearms are just past parallel to the floor and you feel a full stretch in your triceps
  • Drive the dumbbells back up along the same arc by extending your elbows until your arms are fully straight
  • Squeeze your triceps at the top before beginning the next rep
