About this exercise

A rotational core exercise performed kneeling, in which you hold a dumbbell with both hands and rotate diagonally from a low position on one side to a high position on the opposite side, targeting the obliques and shoulders in a wood-chop pattern.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on both knees and hold a dumbbell with both hands
  • Start with the dumbbell held at hip level on one side of your body
  • Keep your core braced and hips stable throughout the movement
  • Rotate your torso and raise the dumbbell diagonally across your body toward the opposite shoulder
  • Pause briefly at the top, then control the dumbbell back down to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one diagonal before switching to the other side
