About this exercise

An advanced floor exercise pairing a single-leg glute bridge with a dumbbell chest press on the same (ipsilateral) side. The same-side loading creates a unique lateral stability challenge for the core while simultaneously training chest and glute strength.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with both knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Hold a dumbbell in one hand at chest level on the same side as your working leg
  • Extend the opposite leg straight out along the floor
  • Drive through the heel of your working foot to raise your hips into a single-leg glute bridge
  • While holding the bridge, press the dumbbell straight up until your arm is fully extended
  • Lower the dumbbell back to chest level with control
  • Keep your hips square and core braced throughout each rep
  • Complete all reps, then switch to the other side
