About this exercise

A prone incline raise where the arms form a Y shape overhead, specifically targeting the lower trapezius and rear deltoids for improved scapular stability and shoulder health. Use light weights to maintain proper form and avoid compensating with the upper traps.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45 degree incline and lie face down with your chest supported
  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand with arms hanging straight down and a neutral or thumbs-up grip
  • Raise both arms diagonally overhead to form a Y shape, keeping elbows straight
  • Squeeze your shoulder blades down and together at the top of the movement
  • Hold briefly, then slowly lower the dumbbells back to the hanging position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
