About this exercise

An incline chest press performed with palms facing each other (neutral grip), which reduces shoulder stress while targeting the upper chest and triceps. The neutral grip allows a deeper range of motion and places the shoulder in a more comfortable position compared to a pronated grip.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45 degree incline and sit back with a dumbbell in each hand resting on your thighs
  • Kick the dumbbells up to shoulder level as you lie back, palms facing each other
  • Press the dumbbells up and slightly together until your arms are extended but not fully locked out
  • Keep your wrists neutral (palms facing in) throughout the entire movement
  • Lower the dumbbells slowly back to chest level, maintaining control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
