About this exercise

An incline chest press performed with dumbbells one arm at a time, alternating sides each rep. The incline angle shifts the emphasis to the upper chest while the alternating pattern challenges shoulder stability and core anti-rotation.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45° incline and sit back with a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height
  • Press one dumbbell directly overhead until the arm is fully extended, keeping the opposite dumbbell at chest level
  • Lower the pressed dumbbell back to the starting position under control
  • Press the other dumbbell overhead in the same manner
  • Continue alternating arms for the target number of reps per side
  • Keep your back flat against the bench and core braced throughout
