Dumbbell Incline Alternate Biceps Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Dumbbell Incline Alternate Biceps Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The Dumbbell Incline Alternate Bicep Curl is performed seated on an incline bench with arms hanging freely. The incline angle places the biceps in a fully stretched position at the bottom, producing a greater range of motion and peak contraction than a standing curl. Alternating arms allows each side to be trained with full focus.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 45–60 degree incline and sit back with a dumbbell in each hand, arms hanging straight down
  • Keeping your upper arm stationary, curl one dumbbell upward by flexing the elbow
  • Supinate your wrist slightly at the top so your palm faces your shoulder at peak contraction
  • Slowly lower the dumbbell back to the fully extended starting position
  • Repeat the curl with the opposite arm
  • Continue alternating arms for the desired number of reps per side
  • Avoid swinging your torso or lifting your elbow forward
