About this exercise

The dumbbell goblet wall sit is an isometric lower-body exercise that combines a wall sit with a goblet-style dumbbell hold, adding resistance to the standard wall sit while also engaging the core to stabilize the weight. It is excellent for building quad endurance and strength under load.

How to Perform

  • Hold a dumbbell vertically at chest height with both hands cupped around the top end, goblet-style
  • Stand with your back against a wall and feet shoulder-width apart, a step away from the wall
  • Slide your back down the wall until your thighs are parallel to the floor
  • Keep the dumbbell held firmly at chest level throughout the hold
  • Press your back flat against the wall and keep your knees directly over your toes
  • Hold the position for the target duration, breathing steadily
  • To finish, push through your heels and slide back up the wall to standing
