About this exercise

A mobility and flexibility drill that combines a lateral lunge with a deep inner-thigh stretch while holding a dumbbell in the goblet position. The weight acts as a counterbalance, allowing a deeper hip drop and a longer hold in the stretched position.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width, holding a dumbbell vertically at chest level with both hands (goblet grip)
  • Keep your chest tall and core braced
  • Shift your weight to the right and bend the right knee, lowering your hips toward the right heel while keeping the left leg straight
  • At the bottom, press the right elbow against the right inner thigh to deepen the groin and inner-thigh stretch
  • Hold the stretched position for 1–2 seconds
  • Push through the right foot to return to the starting position
  • Repeat on the left side and continue alternating for the desired reps
