About this exercise

A combination exercise that simultaneously works the glutes and hamstrings with a glute bridge while challenging the triceps with a skull crusher, maximizing training efficiency by targeting two muscle groups in one movement. Performing both simultaneously demands core stability to maintain a stable hip position throughout the skull crusher reps.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with knees bent, feet flat on the floor, and a dumbbell in each hand
  • Press the dumbbells straight up above your chest at arm's length
  • Drive through your heels to perform a glute bridge, lifting your hips toward the ceiling and squeezing your glutes
  • While holding the bridge, bend your elbows to slowly lower the dumbbells toward your forehead (skull crusher phase)
  • Extend your arms back to the starting position above your chest
  • Lower your hips back to the floor with control to complete one repetition
