About this exercise

The Dumbbell Front Plank Arm and Leg Raise is an advanced core stability exercise where you simultaneously raise one arm (holding a dumbbell) and the opposite leg while maintaining a front plank. This combination maximally challenges anti-rotation, balance, and total-body tension.

How to Perform

  • Place a dumbbell on the floor and get into a high plank position with one hand gripping the dumbbell
  • Brace your core hard and keep your hips square to the floor
  • Simultaneously raise the arm holding the dumbbell straight forward and lift the opposite leg straight back to hip height
  • Hold briefly at the top with the body forming a straight line from raised hand to raised foot
  • Lower both limbs back to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
