About this exercise

An advanced unilateral squat variation where the front foot is elevated on a platform (deficit), significantly increasing the range of motion and quad stretch compared to a standard Bulgarian split squat.

How to Perform

  • Place a step or weight plate on the floor for your front foot, and position a bench behind you for rear foot elevation
  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides
  • Stand on the elevated platform with your front foot and place the top of your rear foot on the bench
  • Lower your body by bending the front knee, sinking deeper than a standard split squat due to the deficit
