About this exercise

The dumbbell biceps curl is a fundamental isolation exercise that targets the biceps brachii by curling both dumbbells simultaneously from a fully extended position to peak contraction. It builds arm size and strength while allowing each arm to move through its natural range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with arms fully extended and palms facing forward
  • Keep your elbows tucked close to your sides and avoid swinging your torso
  • Curl both dumbbells upward by flexing at the elbow until the dumbbells reach shoulder height
  • Squeeze your biceps hard at the top of the movement
  • Lower the dumbbells back to the starting position in a slow, controlled motion
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
