Dumbbell Banded Wall Sit

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Dumbbell Banded Wall Sit.

MediumQuadriceps

About this exercise

An isometric wall sit performed with a resistance band looped around the thighs and dumbbells resting on the legs, intensifying quadriceps tension while the band challenges hip abductor control. The combination of added load and band resistance significantly increases the difficulty of this classic static hold.

How to Perform

  • Loop a short resistance band around your thighs just above the knees
  • Stand with your back flat against a wall and hold a dumbbell on each thigh
  • Slide your back down the wall until your thighs are parallel to the floor and your knees are at 90 degrees
  • Keep your feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Push your knees outward against the band throughout the hold
  • Maintain a flat back against the wall and keep your core braced
  • Hold the position for the prescribed duration, then slide back up the wall to stand
