About this exercise

The Dumbbell Arnold Press II is a shoulder press variation inspired by the classic Arnold Press, performed with a rotational movement that activates all three deltoid heads. This variation begins with dumbbells held in front of the body at chin height with palms facing you, then rotates outward as you press overhead, extending through the full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Sit or stand holding a dumbbell in each hand at chin height, palms facing toward you
  • Keep your core braced and your spine neutral throughout the movement
  • Begin pressing the dumbbells upward while simultaneously rotating your palms outward
  • Continue the rotation so that palms face forward as the dumbbells pass eye level
  • Extend your arms fully overhead at the top
  • Reverse the rotation as you lower the dumbbells back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
