About this exercise

A dynamic core exercise where you alternate raising one leg and the opposite arm holding a dumbbell, meeting above the body in a V shape. The alternating pattern and added dumbbell weight increase the challenge on the rectus abdominis and obliques compared to a standard V-up.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back on a mat with legs extended and a dumbbell held in one hand extended overhead
  • Brace your core and simultaneously raise one leg and the opposite arm (holding the dumbbell) up toward each other
  • Meet the dumbbell and foot above your center of gravity at the top of the movement
  • Lower both limbs back to the floor with control
  • Pass the dumbbell to the other hand and repeat on the opposite side
  • Alternate sides continuously for the desired number of repetitions
  • Keep the movement smooth and controlled to maximize core engagement
