Dumbbell 2-Point Bench Press

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Dumbbell 2-Point Bench Press.

MediumMiddle chest

About this exercise

A unilateral chest press performed with only two points of contact — shoulders on the bench and feet on the floor — while the hips are raised into a bridge position. This variation adds a glute and core stability challenge on top of the single-arm pressing movement.

How to Perform

  • Lie on a flat bench with your upper back and shoulders in contact with it, then drive your hips up into a glute bridge so only your shoulders touch the bench
  • Hold a single dumbbell in one hand with your arm extended, keeping the opposite arm out to the side or on your hip for balance
  • Lower the dumbbell slowly to the side of your chest, maintaining the bridged hip position
  • Press the dumbbell back up to full arm extension while keeping your hips level and not rotating
  • Brace your core and squeeze your glutes throughout the movement
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
