About this exercise

A bodyweight pressing exercise that combines the downward dog position with a pike push-up performed with feet braced against a wall. Elevating the hips into an inverted-V shifts emphasis onto the shoulders and upper chest, making it an effective progression toward handstand push-ups.

How to Perform

  • Place your hands on the floor and walk your feet up the wall behind you until your hips are high and your body forms an inverted V shape (downward dog)
  • Position your hands shoulder-width apart with fingers pointing forward
  • Keep your core tight and hips elevated throughout the movement
  • Bend your elbows to lower the top of your head toward the floor between your hands
  • Pause briefly at the bottom before pressing back up to full arm extension
  • Maintain the inverted V hip position throughout each rep
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
