About this exercise

A full-body rotational exercise performed with both arms clasped together, mimicking the diagonal chopping action of cutting wood on both sides. It develops core rotational power and coordinates the hips, obliques, and shoulders.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and interlace your fingers in front of you
  • Raise your clasped hands diagonally up and over one shoulder
  • Drive your arms down and across your body toward the opposite hip in a powerful chopping motion
  • Rotate through your hips and torso to generate force, not just your arms
  • Return your arms to the high starting position in a controlled arc
  • Alternate the high starting side with each rep
