About this exercise

The Double Knee Side Thrust is a plyometric bodyweight exercise that drives both knees laterally in a powerful thrusting motion. It challenges the core — particularly the obliques — and the hip flexors while raising the heart rate and improving lateral movement coordination.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart and arms raised to shoulder height for balance
  • Shift your weight onto one foot and bring both knees up and across toward the opposite side in a quick thrusting motion
  • Engage your obliques as you drive the knees laterally
  • Land with control and return to the starting position
  • Immediately perform the thrust to the opposite side
  • Keep your core braced and shoulders stable throughout
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
