About this exercise

The decline kneeling push-up on box is a bodyweight chest exercise where the knees are elevated on a box or step, creating a decline angle that shifts emphasis to the upper chest. The kneeling modification reduces the total load compared to a full decline push-up, making it a beginner-friendly option for building upper chest strength.

How to Perform

  • Place a sturdy box or step behind you and kneel on top of it
  • Walk your hands forward until your body forms a straight line from knees to shoulders at a downward angle
  • Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width on the floor
  • Lower your chest toward the floor by bending your elbows, keeping your core braced
  • Press through your palms to push back up to the starting position
  • Perform all reps with controlled tempo
