About this exercise

The Decline Kneeling Push-Up is a beginner-friendly variation where the shins rest on a bench and hands are on the floor, creating a decline angle that emphasizes the lower chest. The kneeling modification reduces overall load compared to a full decline push-up.

How to Perform

  • Place a bench or elevated surface behind you and rest your shins on top of it
  • Position your hands on the floor, slightly wider than shoulder-width
  • Keep your body straight from knees to shoulders, creating a decline angle
  • Bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the floor
  • Push through your palms to return to the starting position
  • Maintain a neutral spine and engaged core throughout
