Decline Diamond Push-Up

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Decline Diamond Push-Up.

MediumTricepsLower chest

About this exercise

The decline diamond push-up combines a decline angle with a close diamond hand placement to intensely target the lower chest and triceps simultaneously. Elevating the feet shifts more load onto the lower pectoral fibers, while the narrow diamond grip maximizes triceps engagement. This advanced bodyweight variation is excellent for building chest and arm definition.

How to Perform

  • Place your feet on an elevated surface such as a step or bench, and position your hands on the floor in a diamond shape — thumbs and index fingers touching
  • Extend your arms and align your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Brace your core and squeeze your glutes to keep your hips from sagging
  • Slowly lower your chest toward your hands, keeping your elbows pointing back and slightly outward
  • Stop when your chest nearly touches your hands, then push back up by extending your elbows
  • Keep your body rigid throughout the movement without letting your hips rise or drop
