About this exercise

A reverse crunch variation performed on a decline bench that strongly targets the lower abdominals. Securing the feet at the upper end of the bench creates an angle that increases the range of motion as you curl the hips off the surface.

How to Perform

  • Set a decline bench at approximately 30–45 degrees and lie face up with your feet secured at the top
  • Hold the bench behind your head for stability
  • Bend your knees to roughly 90 degrees and brace your core
  • Exhale and draw your knees toward your chest, curling your hips off the bench
  • Pause at the top and squeeze the lower abs
  • Slowly lower your hips back to the starting position under control
