About this exercise

A unilateral lower-body exercise that combines the glute-targeting curtsy lunge with a controlled sliding motion using a towel under the rear foot. The sliding variation reduces impact and increases the range of inner-thigh and glute engagement throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with a towel placed under one foot on a smooth surface
  • Keeping your chest tall and core braced, slide the towel foot diagonally back and across behind the standing leg into a curtsy position
  • Lower your hips until both knees reach roughly a 90-degree angle, keeping the front knee aligned over the toes
  • Pause briefly at the bottom, then push through the front heel and slide the rear foot back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
