About this exercise

A classic crunch performed with the knees bent and feet flat against a wall. The wall provides a fixed anchor for the feet, eliminating hip-flexor involvement and directing all the work to the abdominal muscles.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back close to a wall with your knees bent to approximately 90 degrees and feet flat against the wall
  • Cross your arms over your chest or place your fingertips behind your ears
  • Exhale and curl your upper body off the floor by contracting your abs, lifting your shoulder blades
  • Hold briefly at the top and squeeze your abs
  • Slowly lower your upper back back to the floor
  • Keep your lower back lightly pressed toward the floor throughout the movement
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
