About this exercise

A lying bodyweight exercise where the legs alternate crossing over each other in a scissor pattern, challenging the core and hip flexors through a continuous alternating motion. The criss-cross pattern also engages the inner and outer thighs as stabilisers.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with legs extended and hands placed under your lower back or alongside your hips for support
  • Raise both legs approximately 15–30 cm off the floor, keeping them straight
  • Cross your right leg over your left, then quickly alternate and cross your left leg over your right in a controlled scissor motion
  • Keep your lower back pressed toward the floor and your core braced throughout
  • Continue alternating the crossing pattern for the target number of reps or time
