About this exercise

The crab knee to elbow is a bodyweight core exercise performed in the crab position — seated with hands and feet on the floor, hips raised. You alternately drive each knee toward the opposite elbow, creating rotational tension in the core. The movement develops anti-rotation strength, coordination, and triceps stability.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with knees bent, feet flat, and hands placed behind you with fingers pointing toward your feet
  • Press through your hands and feet to lift your hips off the floor into the crab position
  • Brace your core and lift one hand slightly as you drive the opposite knee toward that elbow
  • Touch or bring the knee and elbow as close together as possible
  • Return to the crab position and repeat on the other side
  • Continue alternating sides with a controlled rhythm for the desired number of reps
