About this exercise

An agility and conditioning drill where you move quickly between the four corners of an imaginary or marked square, touching each corner with your hand before moving to the next. It improves lateral speed, change-of-direction ability, and cardiovascular fitness.

How to Perform

  • Set up four markers forming a square approximately one to two metres apart
  • Begin in a quarter-squat athletic stance in the centre of the square
  • Sprint or shuffle to the first corner and touch the ground (or marker) with your hand
  • Return to the centre, then move to the next corner and touch the ground
  • Continue moving through all four corners as quickly as possible
  • Keep your hips low and your weight on the balls of your feet to allow fast direction changes
  • Count each full circuit of all four corners as one repetition
