About this exercise

The chest-supported dumbbell incline row has you lie face-down on an incline bench while rowing dumbbells, which removes momentum and lower-back strain. It isolates the upper back, traps, and rear delts for stricter, more controlled pulling.

How to Perform

  • Set a bench to an incline and lie face-down on it with your chest supported
  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand, letting your arms hang straight down toward the floor
  • Keep your head neutral and pull the dumbbells up toward your hips by driving your elbows back
  • Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the top of the movement
  • Lower the dumbbells back down under control until your arms are fully extended
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
