About this exercise

The calf stretch with rope is a supine flexibility exercise that uses a stretching strap to draw the foot into dorsiflexion, deeply lengthening the gastrocnemius and soleus. The strap allows you to control intensity and hold the stretch comfortably without straining the shoulders or lower back.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back on a mat with legs extended
  • Loop a stretching strap around the ball of one foot and hold both ends with your hands
  • Keep your leg as straight as possible and gently pull the strap to flex your foot toward your shin
  • Pull only until you feel a comfortable stretch in the calf — do not force the range
  • Hold the stretch for 20–30 seconds while breathing steadily
  • Release the tension slowly and switch to the other leg
