About this exercise

The cable lat pulldown with twin handles and a parallel (neutral) grip is a back exercise performed at the lat pulldown machine using two separate handles set side by side. The neutral grip reduces elbow and wrist strain while emphasizing the lower lats and allowing a full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Attach twin parallel handles to the lat pulldown cable and adjust the thigh pad to secure your legs
  • Sit facing the machine and grip both handles with a neutral (palms facing each other) grip
  • Extend your arms fully overhead to establish the starting position
  • Lean back very slightly and brace your core
  • Exhale and pull both handles down toward your upper chest by driving your elbows down and back
  • Squeeze your lats at the bottom and hold the contraction briefly
  • Slowly extend your arms back overhead, maintaining control throughout
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
