About this exercise

A floor-based triceps isolation exercise where you lie on your back beneath a high cable pulley and extend the elbows downward against the load. The floor removes shoulder recruitment by anchoring the upper arms, directing almost all tension onto the triceps.

How to Perform

  • Set the pulley to the highest position and attach a short straight bar or triceps bar
  • Lie on your back on the floor directly beneath the pulley, with your head pointing toward the stack
  • Reach up and grasp the handle with an overhand grip, bending the elbows so the handle is near your forehead
  • Keep your upper arms perpendicular to the floor and pressed lightly against your body
  • Extend the elbows, pressing the handle downward toward your thighs until the arms are fully straight
  • Slowly allow the elbows to bend and return the handle to the starting position under control
