Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Standing Wrist Reverse Curl.

EasyOuter forearm

About this exercise

The cable standing wrist reverse curl targets the forearm extensors using the constant tension of a low pulley cable. The overhand grip on the cable bar keeps tension on the outer forearm muscles throughout the full range of motion, making it an effective isolation exercise for building forearm extensor strength.

How to Perform

  • Attach a straight bar to a low pulley cable machine and stand facing the machine
  • Grasp the bar with an overhand (palms-down) grip, hands shoulder-width apart
  • Step back slightly so your arms hang in front of your thighs with the cable taut
  • Allow your wrists to drop toward the floor to fully stretch the forearm extensors
  • Curl your wrists upward as far as possible, contracting the forearm extensors at the top
  • Lower the bar back slowly under control to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
