About this exercise

A standing cable press variation that combines a pressing motion with an active squeeze to maximise upper chest activation. With cables set at a low-to-mid pulley position, you press both handles upward and together, maintaining constant tension on the upper pectorals throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set both cable pulleys to a low or mid position on a cable crossover machine
  • Stand in the centre of the machine and grasp one handle in each hand
  • Step forward slightly and position your hands at lower chest height with elbows bent and pointing out
  • Press the handles upward and inward in an arc, bringing them together in front of your upper chest
  • Actively squeeze the handles toward each other at the top to maximise chest contraction
  • Slowly return the handles along the same arc back to the starting position under control
