Cable Standing Single Arm Preacher Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Standing Single Arm Preacher Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

A biceps isolation curl performed standing at a low cable pulley, with the working arm braced against the upper thigh or a pad to mimic the angle of a preacher bench. The fixed arm position eliminates swinging and keeps constant tension on the biceps throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set the cable pulley to the lowest position and attach a single-D handle
  • Stand facing the machine and grasp the handle with one hand, palm up
  • Brace the back of your upper arm against your inner thigh or a preacher pad to anchor the elbow
  • Keep your torso upright and feet shoulder-width apart
  • Curl the handle upward in a smooth arc until the biceps is fully contracted
  • Pause briefly at the top, then lower the handle slowly back to the start
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching
