About this exercise

The Cable Standing Front Raise Variation is an anterior deltoid isolation exercise performed with a low-pulley cable, using an alternative grip or body position to shift the stimulus compared to a standard front raise. The cable provides consistent tension throughout the lift, preventing the resistance drop-off common with dumbbells at the top of the movement.

How to Perform

  • Attach a handle to a low pulley cable machine and stand facing away from or beside the machine
  • Grasp the handle with one or both hands using the chosen grip variation
  • Stand tall with a slight forward lean and brace your core
  • Exhale and raise the handle forward and upward to approximately shoulder height, keeping a slight bend in the elbow
  • Pause briefly at the top without swinging the torso
  • Inhale and slowly lower the handle back to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
