About this exercise

A standing cable press performed with a close, narrow grip that shifts the primary workload from the chest to the triceps. The cable provides constant tension throughout the pressing movement, making it an effective isolation exercise for triceps development.

How to Perform

  • Set the cable pulley to chest or shoulder height and attach a straight bar handle
  • Stand facing away from the machine and grip the bar with hands about 15–20 cm apart, palms down
  • Hold the bar at chest level with elbows tucked close to your sides
  • Brace your core and press the bar forward and slightly downward until your arms are fully extended
  • Squeeze your triceps at lockout, then slowly return the bar to the starting position
  • Keep your elbows close to your torso throughout the movement to maximize triceps engagement
  • Repeat for the target number of reps
