About this exercise

A standing bilateral cable press that targets the chest while requiring the core and stabilizers to work hard throughout the movement. Using cables provides constant tension across the full range of motion compared to a barbell or dumbbell press.

How to Perform

  • Set both cable pulleys to chest height and attach D-handles or straight bar
  • Stand in the center of the cable crossover station with one foot slightly forward for balance
  • Grasp the handles and bring your hands in front of your chest with elbows slightly bent
  • Brace your core and press both handles straight forward until your arms are nearly extended
  • Squeeze your chest at full extension, then slowly return your hands back to the starting position
  • Keep your torso upright and avoid leaning excessively into the movement
  • Repeat for the target number of reps
