Cable Squatting Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Squatting Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The cable squatting curl combines a squat with a bicep curl using a low pulley cable, engaging the legs and biceps simultaneously in one movement. This compound variation challenges balance and coordination while providing constant cable tension through the full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Attach a straight bar handle to the low pulley cable
  • Stand facing the machine with feet shoulder-width apart and grasp the bar with an underhand grip
  • Push your hips back and lower into a squat position, arms extended toward the pulley
  • From the bottom of the squat, begin curling the bar up toward your chest as you start to stand
  • Fully extend your hips and knees at the top while completing the bicep curl
  • Slowly lower the bar and descend back into the squat in a controlled manner
  • Keep your core braced and avoid swinging or using momentum throughout
