About this exercise

A squat variation using a low cable pulley for resistance, allowing a more upright torso position compared to a barbell squat. The cable provides constant tension throughout the movement and makes the exercise accessible for beginners or those working on squat mechanics.

How to Perform

  • Attach a straight bar or V-handle to a low cable pulley
  • Stand facing the machine, feet shoulder-width apart, and hold the handle at chest height with both hands
  • Brace your core and keep your chest up throughout the movement
  • Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower into a squat until thighs are parallel to the floor
  • Keep your heels flat on the ground and knees tracking over your toes
  • Drive through your heels to return to the standing position
