Cable Seated Neck Flexion (with Head Harness)

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Seated Neck Flexion (with Head Harness).

MediumNeck

About this exercise

The cable seated neck flexion uses a head harness attached to a low cable pulley to apply constant resistance to the anterior neck muscles. Seated and facing away from the machine, you flex the neck by bringing the chin toward the chest against the cable load. The continuous tension throughout the movement makes it an effective isolation exercise for the neck flexors.

How to Perform

  • Attach the head harness to a low cable pulley and select an appropriate weight
  • Sit on a bench facing away from the machine and put on the head harness
  • Begin with your head upright or slightly extended back as the starting position
  • Flex your neck by bringing your chin toward your chest against the cable resistance
  • Hold briefly at the fully flexed position, then slowly return your head to the start
  • Keep your torso upright and still — isolate the movement to the neck
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
