About this exercise

A seated cable tricep exercise that targets all three heads of the triceps by extending the arms overhead against a high-pulley cable. The seated position stabilises the torso while the cable provides constant tension through the full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Attach a rope handle to the high pulley of a cable machine and position a bench or seat facing away from the stack
  • Sit down and reach up to grasp the rope with both hands behind your head, palms facing each other
  • Lean slightly forward at the hips with your elbows pointing upward and upper arms close to your head
  • Brace your core and extend your forearms upward until your arms are fully straightened
  • Pause briefly at the top to squeeze the triceps
  • Slowly lower the rope back behind your head to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
