About this exercise

The Cable Seated Front Press targets the anterior deltoids using low cable pulleys with the user seated facing away from the machine. The seated position stabilizes the lower body and allows continuous cable tension throughout the pressing movement directly in front of the body.

How to Perform

  • Set both cable pulleys to the lowest position and attach handles or a straight bar
  • Place a bench in front of the cable station and sit facing away from the machine
  • Grip the handles at shoulder height, palms facing forward or down
  • Brace your core and keep your back upright against the bench
  • Press the handles forward and slightly upward until the arms are nearly extended in front of you
  • Return the handles to shoulder height with control, keeping constant tension on the cables
  • Avoid leaning the torso back excessively during the press
