Cable Rope Preacher Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Rope Preacher Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The Cable Preacher Curl with a rope attachment is a strict biceps isolation exercise that combines the fixed arm position of the preacher bench with the natural wrist rotation allowed by a rope handle. The bench eliminates momentum while the rope lets you supinate the wrists at the top for a stronger biceps contraction.

How to Perform

  • Set the cable to the lowest pulley position and attach a rope handle
  • Sit or stand at the preacher bench and place the backs of your upper arms firmly against the pad
  • Grip the rope ends with a neutral grip, arms nearly fully extended
  • Curl the rope upward toward your shoulders, rotating your wrists outward slightly as you reach the top
  • Squeeze your biceps hard at the peak contraction
  • Slowly lower the rope back to the starting position with your arms nearly fully extended
  • Repeat for the target number of reps
